Practicing for Core Resilience
How pelvic floor health anchors your core
and your balance
A yoga practice series on the deep, coordinated system beneath the muscles you can see,
and what it means for stability, mobility, and everyday balance.
Four live sessions, Thursdays at 4:00 pm ET / 1:00 pm PT
September 17, 24, 29 & October 1
Your core is more than your abs
Most core training focuses on the muscles you can see. The abdominals in front, the back behind, and whatever a mirror rewards.
True core resilience starts deeper, in a system that works quietly and constantly whether or not you are thinking about it.
Think of your torso as a canister with four walls. Those walls manage the pressure inside your abdomen, and that pressure is part of how your spine stays steady while you move.
When the walls coordinate well, movement feels supported. When they do not, other structures tend to pick up the slack.
The Core Canister
Four walls, one system
These structures are usually trained separately. They work together, regulating pressure and reducing shear and bending stress on the lumbar spine as you move.
Above
Diaphragm
The breathing muscle that forms the roof and sets the rhythm the rest of the system follows.
In front
Deep abdominals
The front wall, wrapping the waist and responding to changes in pressure.
Behind
Multifidus
Small deep muscles along the spine that support it segment by segment.
Below
Pelvic floor
The base of the canister, and the wall most often left out of core work.

What's Included in Each Track?
TRACK ONE - FOUNDATIONS
Wonder how to gain the benefits of yoga for osteoporosis, while still staying safe in your practice?
The Foundations Track gives you the essential knowledge you need to learn how to target your yoga practice to incorporate fracture prevention approaches.
This track includes 15 hours of recorded online lectures and yoga practices with Ellen Saltonstall and Dr. Loren Fishman. It is based on the teaching techniques for osteoporosis developed and tested by Ellen Saltonstall over three decades of teaching.
BONUS!
The Vertebral Fracture Cascade
Keys to Preventing Vertebral Fractures
Vertebral compression fractures to many are one of the most disturbing aspects of osteoporosis since they can happen spontaneously with something as simple as a sneeze. In this Bonus course, learn about the factors that predispose you to vertebral fractures and how to stack the odds against them.
TRACK TWO: PREMIUM
The Complete Bone Health Blueprint:
A Multimodal Yoga Approach to Osteoporosis & Fracture Prevention
35+ Hours Online and Live Study! This Track includes all the material in the Yoga for Osteoporosis Foundations Course PLUS:
In the Premium course, learn how to build a balanced approach to yoga practice and teaching that will enable you to address a wide range of risk factors for osteoporotic fractures.
For example, did you know that:
--> Most fractures - osteoporotic or not - are caused by a fall? More than 90% of hip fractures, for example, are associated with falls, and majority occur in adults over the age of 70.
--> Poor posture can increase the risk of fractures. In fact, research shows that hyperkyphotic posture—the forward curvature of the thoracic spine often called "dowager's hump"—represents an independent risk factor for future osteoporotic fractures.
--> Loss of neuromuscular control can increase fall and fracture risk. Proprioceptive function—the body's ability to sense position and movement—declines with aging. This affects joint biomechanics and neuromuscular control, resulting in impaired balance and increased risk of falls and fractures.
--> Chronic loss of breathing capacity can affect bone metabolism, adding another often overlooked risk factor for impaired bone health and faster loss of bone mass density.
As part of Track 2, you'll learn how to integrate progressive loading and strength training into your yoga practice, creating a multi-component approach to reducing fracture risk.
Also learn how to find the important balance, so you can keep making progress without risking injury.
Maximize the Benefits of Your Yoga Practice! This track includes eight 90-minute live immersion practices with Lynn Crimando and guest teacher Melina Meza - as well as workshops with Lynn Crimando and Eva Norlyk Smith on the latest findings in our knowledge on fracture prevention and how to integrate this into your yoga practice.
- Which are the latest scientific findings on ways to optimize bone building?
- How can we incorporate these findings into our daily yoga and/or exercise routine?
- How can we integrate strength-building safely into a daily yoga practice while also addressing additional risk factors for fractures?
- How can we prepare the body to build up to the added demands on our physical frame needed to strengthen muscles and stimulate bone growth?
- How can we structure our yoga practice to enhance coordination, mobility and balance to prevent fractures and retain full mobility as we get older?

Breaking Free from the Frailty Cycle:
Curbing the #1 Driver of Fractures and Loss of Freedom & Independence
Monday, August 31, 2026
1 pm ET - 2:30 pm ET
10 am - 11:30 am PT
The frailty cycle is a downward spiral that traps millions of aging adults. Decreased strength, injury or joint issues lead to reduced activity, which in turn leads to further weakness, poor balance, and increased fracture risk.
But what if you could stop this cycle before it starts? Or, if you are already concerned about loss of mobility and strength, what can you do to break the cycle before it develops into full-fledged frailty?
Join Eva Norlyk Smith and Lynn Crimando for this transformative mentoring session where we explore how to use the new essentials of movement science to help build or restore movement resilience.
